What exactly is a Fire & Ice Facial?
Fire & Ice
You’ve probably heard about or seen ads for Fire and Ice facials – but what exactly is this treatment everyone is talking about? Using elements of heat and cold, this type of facial brightens, smooths and tightens skin. At Whitby Medspa we offer the “iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial” (often called the ‘Red Carpet facial’) which is one of the better known and highest quality facials on the market. The iS Clinical i Fire & Ice Facial is an intensive treatment that is clinically formulated with some of the purest and the highest quality pharmaceutical ingredients. (red carpet facial, 3 days prior to an event)
How does Fire & Ice work?
The theory behind the treatment is that the ‘Fire’ or heat sensation comes from a combination of ingredients including glycolic acid (sugarcane extract) and retinol applied to the skin. These ingredients help to increase blood flow and circulation. The warming sensation is immediately followed by a cold ‘Ice’ treatment with cooling products containing hyaluronic acid, aloe vera with natural extracts, which helps reduce any inflammation or swelling in the skin. The iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial is an intensive clinical treatment which rapidly and safely resurfaces the skin, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while smoothing, softening, and encouraging overall skin rejuvenation. Excellent for all skin types and ages, this facial results in a complexion that is dramatically refined, with no downtime, peeling, or other negative side effects.
What to Do Prior to your Treatment
There are certain measures that you need to take before you have this treatment done on your face. We’ve listed what is essential to do prior to the treatment in order to get the best possible results.
Avoid waxing at least 72 hours prior to the treatment and 2 weeks prior for any laser skin treatment or any professional peel.
Stop using any of your daily skin care products that contain vitamin A, glycolic acid, or any other ingredient that is used for resurfacing. Such products must be stopped from being used at least 3-5 days prior to the treatment.
It is mandatory that you tell our staff about any medications that you’re taking. Use of some medications may prevent you from receiving this treatment.
If you are pregnant or suspect that you are pregnant, let our staff know.
The care prior to a Fire & Ice treatment depends on the skin condition of each person, thus, it is imperative that you consult with the experts at Whitby Medspa before the treatment and follow the guidelines provided.
What can I Expect During the Treatment?
It is common for you to feel heat and slight tingling sensation when the fire masque comes in contact with your skin. It’s also normal for you to feel the same when the fire masque is being taken off your skin. The slight burning sensation will neutralize and your skin will be completely soothed once the rejuvenating ice masque is applied on your face.
Once the treatment has been completed, our staff is expected to use several other complementary serums in order to hydrate, protect and soothe your skin further.
What can I Expect After the Treatment?
This “Fire & Ice Facial” has no downtime. This means you won’t experience any skin shredding, redness, inflammation or irritation at all. However, it is expected that after few hours of the treatment your skin may seem flushed, but this effect will wear off within the next 4 to 6 hours. (flawless skin)
