Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment
What is PRP?
For many years PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has been used by Sports Medicine Doctors to promote faster recovery from injury in elite athletes. More recently the benefits of PRP have been extended to skin rejuvenation and hair growth.
Benefits of PRP?
Platelets are red blood cells that contain growth factors. These growth factors are important for new cell generation and cellular functions, such as creating new collagen and elastic fibers. Growth factors come in many different varieties and are extremely abundant in our platelets. Microneedling allows for the injection of these growth factors into the skin.
The Process?
Typically a series of 3 micro-needling sessions are performed with Platelet Rich Plasma. Each is performed every once per month, and downtime is usually only 1 day. Usually 8 to 12 weeks after the series is complete the results is seen.
